Btw you can link to specific IRC chat lines with this syntax: http://irc.apertus.org/index.php?day=19&month=12&year=2016#53

Background images (and contest) captured with the Beta is an excellent idea!
Great! I am all for it.
The relevant documentation is here: https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/AXIOM_Beta/AXIOM_Beta_Software#Overlay_Images
Hard to say if there is still any relevant information in these 18 pages of conversation.

In T662#10286, @davidak wrote:The apertus°-Project has 2 sides:
- Products someone can buy (in online Shop) or maybe later rant from companies in our Ecosystem
- a community effort to create an open video capturing plattform (open hardware camera, free software firmware, ...)
The website should reflect that.

chooksprod, very nice! Any experience with the plastic extruder yet?

I agree it is the goal but we have to be realistic that is a huge challenge....
phabricator daemons restarted
Do you mean electronic components or solder ?

And I think we all agree that its important to clearly version releases and label everything accordingly so any release can be tracked/reproduced.
With rsync we can just have a "latest" repo plus repos with increasing version numbers in case anyone wants to try a specific version or downgrade to test/compare something.

The IMU just records the motion of the camera (3D rotation, acceleration, etc.) what you do with that kind of information then in post production is up to the user/software.

there is another one application: realtime track could be very useful for green screen previsualisation of live human in 3d environment or the other side with real environment and vfx character like the troll in lord of the ring (this was made with motioncapture system but today it's sould be possible to do this with camera motion tracking)
For camera stabilisation it could be very cool somebody make an extension card to drive directly the brushless motor.
Maybe information to easily find optical center and find the offset between IMU and optical center could be usefull too
May 13 2016
The only applications for doing this live in the Beta that comes to mind would be sports/broadcast and here dedicated mechanical stabilization systems exist already... So I agree this is a post production thing mainly, but I think that's what chooksprod meant with mentioning opencine anyway.
On the bright side I actually remember this particular idea being born because of discussion with specific groups at the booths at embedded world. Of course those were specialists in their field and we actively approach them and started the discussion but still :)

Since this task was half implemented in the history page leaving a draft out in the open I reverted the page back to the original state.
Sophie please copy this page and make the changes there.

We tried loomio for the team a long time ago (before we had phabricator) and nobody kept using it after an initial interest so at some point we had to shut it down again.

As discussed in the last days lets set up an rsync server and test the firmware update procedure over the internet concept.

And I like this picture: https://www.apertus.org/sites/default/files/alpha-prototype-5d_0.jpg maybe you find a space for it.
I don't think we need the alpha subsites menu anymore above the big image.
Please also review the very last paragraphs, there are some missing spaces and the text paragraph style has gone haywire (compare to: https://www.apertus.org/node/166/revisions/3245/view).
I think its a good idea to change the order to go from beginning (top) to end (bottom).
