As an addendum to the previous comment, I'm posting the meeting notes from the latest blender development meeting as a reference to get a feeling how in-depth (or rather: how "big picture"!) these meetings are, and also because I think it's interesting to see how each meeting produces a small management summary of what's currently going on - and this I think is something from which the various apertus projects (especially the Beta of course) could definitely benefit.

Can I close this as wontfix?

since then a loooot changed, right now the community demands more openness and power and this is a way to meet their needs.

We tried loomio for the team a long time ago (before we had phabricator) and nobody kept using it after an initial interest so at some point we had to shut it down again.
Hey there, Christoph and I want to propose to use https://www.loomio.org to integrate the backers into decision proposing and making into the development path for the apertus project.

what I am still missing is the tl;dr of sociocraty as a concept as a whole...
@all cmon guys, its not THAT much .... *j/k*

@ Walter: I am sorry but I also had not enough time to read your very indepth explanations, and I think if we want to spread this process in the community we also have to boil down the information to the most essential core not expect everyone to read a complete book on the topic :)
@philippej i am thankful for your concerns. it is good to have that voice to keep being aware of 'only as much complexity as needed'.
@Walter thank's for this comprehensive insights
Interesting topic, a lot to read and keep up already, with unfortunately not that much time on my end to discuss deeply :-)
@philippej good morning, i just saw, that i did not finish what i've started; as i stated that in the traditional setting
you need basically just one rule "rank > role" but how could, or tbh does it work alternatively.
@philippej hey philipp, could you tell us how decisions where made, how large the team was for how long (easier formulated: how well did you know each others and how where the core areas/specialized fields and knowledge distributed?)
well, well, well... some ideas popped up in my head reading those lines :)
Oct 31 2015
My only wish would be : Please don't make a complex system with complex rules, because what we currently have worked quite well for a long time already :-)
i am looking forward to find the answer to the question: who is the community?

@Walter : no, not necessarely. If one of the existing methods (e.g. sociocracy) fits, i would just See how we adapt it to our Situation. As far as i unterstand it sociocracy is a system wich defines how communication is stuctured and how roles are distributed. We need to think about which roles do we need, etc. What do you think?
@christophvarga: do i understand you correctly, that you want to develop a new way of decision making for the apertus project?
Oct 29 2015
sounds good, I am happy to answer any questions or help if you need anything.
why we don't work on a proposal/ presentation of our (everybody who want's to join this conversation) vision of decision making in axiom.
Hi everyone, sorry that i ve forgotten to write in english,
in a nutshell i wrote that i am excited about the post about sociocracy as i am going to finish the theory modules soon
and aiming to become certified.
Oct 28 2015
Hi Walter, using sociocratic measures in projects where numerous people are involved seems to be a very good idea!
It is good to hear that we have an expert in sociocracy ;)
Maybe we should start by designing a questionnaire to gather people's opinion and to raise the publicity of this topic.
Could you continue in english so we can all follow (this highly interesting topic) ? :-) Thanks !
Very intersting!

Then lets make a list of hardware that possibly can be reused for the Gamma. We definitely should make an ELI5 video explaining everything there is to know about the iteration between Beta & Gamma.

Also we should update the "Upgrade Path" paragraph here: https://apertus.org/axiom-beta-roadmap

we must write a document of good storage practices
Jul 11 2015
I think every kind of information has its place of storage.
While it sounds appealing, I don't think we can have this one central place because there are a number of very different requirements to different types of data.
One suggestion for organizing translation teams, would be divide by language (like other open source projects).
@sebastian Make a Norwegian Bokmål branch and ill see how well it works. I do a lot of translation work.

I'll start on some simplistic/pixel designs as well as some flat designs. Here is a traced and textured wallpaper. All of the future versions will be rendered at 1920x1080. Any other resolution sizes?

flyer looks very nice!
Btw, I see the osce days as an opportunity for concentrated work over a period of two days with small brakes. I don't think there will be many people and I don't think it will be like linux days where you need to pay attention to a lot of newcomers.
Alright, flyer finished, see attached. I'd really love to see apertus at osce. I'd be happy to continue this discussion, but we'd need more information of the "production development" ;). Please tell me you thoughts regarding my post above.

If its the touch controller you are interested in with the flow controller why not use a smartphone instead?
You do not see any possibilities to control an EF Autofocus lens via Bluetooth by that new Flow wireless controller?
I thought it could be done like they used it via USB with the Okii follow focus for some Canon DSLRs ( http://www.okii.net/product_p/fc1.htm)
The difference is all is touch controlled. But I did have the dream to control the focus on active EF-Lenses wirelessly without any additonal focus motors, because we already have the motors inside the lens! I think it is absolutely worth to keep that contoller in mind....

I mean general and agree on the need for an agenda.
Do you mean internal or general?

now that we have the lab I dont think we need them on the mailing list as well.

our website CMS already provides all the technical requirements for a multi language page,
This task is more related to managing the people to create the translated content and organizing efforts for a larger translation team.
looks like from the website it is free for open source projects

Could just use transifex, it used to be foss, but now im not so sure. It does work very well though.

Blender getting involved page is good :
I would better have an article then, else we'll all have this introductory page each time we visit the lab. We could simply link to the article instead of the lab (in the mailing and on the apertus "participate" menu), and put a big button on the article saying "Ok, I understood, bring me to the lab !"
Instead of buttons and video embedd on the lab front page panel what about a custom full HTML landing page for the lab with a short introduction what the lab is, the shortcut buttons, YouTube video and the obvious big "continue to lab" link button?
I really like the idea of physical meetup, I guess it's something to consider for the not too far future.
