Specifically test/enable CEC and HPD as well as DDC
there is another one application: realtime track could be very useful for green screen previsualisation of live human in 3d environment or the other side with real environment and vfx character like the troll in lord of the ring (this was made with motioncapture system but today it's sould be possible to do this with camera motion tracking)
For camera stabilisation it could be very cool somebody make an extension card to drive directly the brushless motor.
Maybe information to easily find optical center and find the offset between IMU and optical center could be usefull too

The only applications for doing this live in the Beta that comes to mind would be sports/broadcast and here dedicated mechanical stabilization systems exist already... So I agree this is a post production thing mainly, but I think that's what chooksprod meant with mentioning opencine anyway.
While it certainly works well in post processing, this probably isn't a good idea for real-time stabilization in the AXIOM Beta.

Great !
I found this one, problably you know as well also : http://docs.opencv.org/3.1.0/#gsc.tab=0

As discussed in the last days lets set up an rsync server and test the firmware update procedure over the internet concept.

Hi everybody,

I like the wood look !
I just start to design a "terminator" cage that we can take everywere. I will stay on a basic thing and with a sketchy design but maybe easy to work for a cnc in wood or metal.
I will put many screws like a cheese when i will be happy of the concept. This simple concept is also working for customized handgrip and to adaptable for the open sam gimbal i think.

The clay is a great idea. An owner won't want to start slapping clay onto the camera so one good way of creating a foundation for doing that would be to emulate what Wooden Camera does. Once form factor specs are final he creates the camera body with wood. It's a gimick essentially, but because the Beta is relatively box shaped this won't be all that difficult for a user to accomplish, and any differentiating between the outer form factor and the inner clay mould could be fine tuned in-house.

yeah exactly ! a new start up will start a kickstarter campaign for bicycle handgrip.

It would be an interesting concept for a service to supply users with a piece of clay to squeeze together with their hand.
Then the clay is hardened and returned to the service provider, who 3d scans it and 3d prints a unique hand grip.

Yeah, black filament have a better look for the beta.

Thanks for printing and the report!

Altera MAX 10 doesn't seem to be a good option as far as we checked.

Thanks for the report! This is excellent first hand knowledge!

Very nice!

But we definitely need a different video to show the process (if we want to) because it is ill advised to promote weapons in public :)
cerakote it is!

Yes, interface board with FPGA is still on the roadmap :)
HDMI Module and outline has been fixed (for the 1x HDMI module).

Ah ok Herbert! Was thinking about it, because it gives about double the speed... probably something for the future...
AFAIK, CFast is basically SATA, so something different :)

CFast 2.0 is no option?

Done, I think we have a final two-part solution:
Jul 11 2015
will do!
@sebastian: please check with Andon if they would do a two-part version (no connection between top and bottom block) - like the one we are investigating from Selwyn - and if, at what cost.

Should we consider colour characterization in this? If so, it would be worth considering a light box that enables us to push extremely wide primaries outward as far as the spectral locus permits.

Nice suggestions.
My preference:
I have to admit I lost overview of this topic, lets discuss what is done, left to be done soon.
Can you summarize the agreed upon path and document it in the wiki please so we dont forget it.

Roman numerals (or regular numbering) sounds good to me:
May 19 2015
oh and yes without a space would be my preference
yes i like it.
although i would prefer arabic numbering
As we will need to name the first Beta soon.

Can you order the cards as well directly?
What about simple roman numerals?
If there is a need to denote different parts/variants, add a letter, e.g.
Option 4:
Get 4x30 µPGA blocks which match the Andon pins from a third party.
A common origin could be a good idea in some cases but in Austria we say: "Du kommst in Teufels Küche" ("you get into devils kitchen.." :-)) if you change any part like the hight of a connector or a socket. You have to change this distance in every part in the whole chain. This is not a way to go. There have to be some defined interconnection points on every part but no dependency to any common origin!
I don't like the idea of everyday names tbh, (male or female) and naming after famous characters/movies/people sounds risky.

I went ahead and ordered the Kingston Reader as they are very cheap on CLEVERsparen.at, so that leaves the cards and the card sockets.
May 11 2015
will take care of ordering
Maybe get two of these (one for analysis, one for actual use):

http://geizhals.at/kingston-mobilelite-g4-reader-fcr-mlg4-a1128626.html
We will do a different HDMI module, I should have more details soon.

Github has a 3D viewer built in already. It works for STL currently IIRC but I am sure they will expand it for more formats in the future.
-i dont know if spielberg is supported. is spielberg newer than Lucas? the new firmware supports versions kurosawa and up.
-i dont know but think the newest one is tarkovsky. maybe i will upgrade to that and watch his films too
sounds wonderful if you ask me :)
personally i dont like versions of things having names of people or words that describe something else or anything like that.
actually it gets to my nerves. and they are everywhere!
and while i never remember names and words (my brain cannot make the connection of my installed android version with some kind of sugar candy) it is easy for me to know that version or revision 5 is newer than version 4.
but if version words are available people seem to pay more attention and remember them rather than version numbers.
Our lawyer has discussed this with his colleague. We should be careful with the names and look into this name by name if there is no trademark or other protection on the name.
Here is the reply of the lawyer (quick translation from Dutch):
I think films are a nice connection... they could be cryptic yet relevant and very unique. Just as long as no hollywood bigwigs / lawyers find this somehow offensive.

I see that the fan is resting on the sensor (probably also on the coming heatsink, around it, and on the pcbs. Could we imagine fixing it from below with a counterbore screw if we find a fan with such holes? the threads could extend to accommodate a cap or a "grill" (or a rosette arri like some people asked for, anything is possible). It can work with a stratification system like in this gamma concept.
Yes, this was just a random piece of information, in case we could improve the fan design to be dust immune.
What about a square neoprene stripe along the current fan edges, below the aluminium case, in order to diminish noise and vibrations? just a suggestion
If we call the baby with the full name "Apertus Axiom Beta" the version name should be as short as possible. Shortest would be one character and we can build 26 versions. Subversions could be A1, A2....
And we still can give them alphabetical nicknames.
The name on the identification label (with serial number) should be short and straight...
