Description

Hey guys

I've come up with the idea of a monthly meeting of the Apertus community in Vienna.
We will meet at the Apertus RIAT Office in Neubaugasse 64-66/3/4 (Entrydoor #3, Dorway 4) at 7pm.

But I just can't decide what the best week and day would be, so most of the people can attend?

Is it better at the beginning, the middle or the end of a month?
Holidays, course beginnings and tests are mostly at the beginning or end of a month, also Christmas and new year,
so personally prefer the second or third week of a month, so most people will be in their normal working/study routine and rhythm.

Whats the best day?
For weekdays I would prefer a weekday, like Thursday, as weekends are holy, especially for people with children
and family, as that is mostly the only time a week most of the family members have time for family life and
most of the events of all kind are using time starting from Friday to Sunday afternoon and many people need
Sunday afternoon to recover from their weekend activities as well. So I guess Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday are
the best suited days, I personally go with Thursday, as I already said.

Se6astian: we could combine it with a workshop maybe and invite people outside team maybe?

That is a very good idea. Matthias and I also talked about spinning the project on the University for applied Arts Vienna and
the Technical University of Vienna. We definitely want to raise awareness of this project and regularly advertise it to more and more students.

OscaR___: Yes, unless there is a very important meeting only once in a wile.
That made me think of a spin-off: maybe we should hold a yearly event, like the IntelDeveloperForum mixed
with an in-house exhibition & trade show?
A gathering of technologists to discuss Apertus products and products based on Apertus products.
Where all the people working on the Project and everyone who is interested in the project
can come and have a look at live tech-demos and panel talks including discussions (like a TED Apertus :D)?

A good idea could be to think of a cooperation with the openeverythingfilmfestival.com project team!
So it is less work as it is combined and both can use the PR boost trough the other "department".

derWalter_: As soon as we have a running date I will start to fix the location, with the help from Matthias I hope :) drinks, projector, chairs, fongerfood, etc on our hands

We should definitely do this, to be honest, this was one of the major reasons for me to keep working
on this idea, as it should work as a forum and place to discuss technology and be like a hub which
enables interested people to directly get in touch and connect to the project.

We should definitely talk about it! - Sebastian, what do you say? Is this the right motivation and target-group :P?

maltefiala: Wow, sounds great! If I were you, I would definitely list it on https://meetup.com/ as well when you have the dates. Later on, you can also use meetup for checking who is coming and who is not. Meetup is used a lot by programmers to schedule public meetings in Vienna atm (all my colleagues use it to find out what's going on in Vienna computing whise)
Thanks for pointing this out! I also want to post it on eventbrite.com, but if we all join forces, maybe we can establish a real neat meeting hub in vienna, all in favor of the Apertus project.

se6astian: exactly my concern that a physical meeting is difficult with people spread all around the globe... but I am happy to be convinced it works :)
Bertl: so while it is nice, it excludes many of the folks who meet here (virtually)
Maybe we can have a Beta live streaming there and a projection of the IRC Channel on screen?
