AXIOM Beta lens mount visualization
Open, NormalPublic

Description

I would like to have a new vizualization with aspect ratio:
2610x1320

That explains that the AXIOM Beta has an e mount and due to the short FFD can use pretty much any lens system that is widely adopted:

Canon, Nikon, PL, M42, Leica-M, etc. through mechanical adapters

Ideas:
Show the Beta in side view with no lens attached and then slices of different lenses of the above brands stacking up to the right, each with a label.

We should add a small note that explains that electronic lens control is not possible yet

perfect, thats why I wrote "aspect ratio" and not resolution :)

Hi Sebastian, I see a big problem here. Where can we get legal pictures of 4 to 5 lenses. All stock-sites don't sell pictures with brands on it. So there is no chance to get e.g a Canon lens.
We have no permission to use pictures from the manufactures themselves, also i doubt they give them to us (because we show different brands close together).

Only possibility I see is to take the pictures from web search and hope nobody makes any trouble when we use them. But I wouldn't suggest to do this.

We can simple take pictures ourselves :)

I should point out here, a month ago I took the initiative to contact seven lens manufacturers no less with a view to obtaining IP clearance. One was a direct introduction from someone I know in lenses. The aim would have been to form the basis of a mutual relationship and perhaps acquire lenses on loan for promo purposes in the future (although that wasn't suggested in my emails). These approaches were part of a brief I was compiling with respect to which brand we might prefer to feature as standard. So, large and small, established and newer marques. We got no responses and frankly, it made me lean towards the prospect of our using non-brand-specific lens depictions in promo.

@sebastian: I suggest I make a first draft with some lenses from web search to see how it works, in the second step we should than create our own lens pictures.

@RexOr: I think using a generic lens for promo would somehow look "fake", you know what i mean? Like a picture of someone using a macbook where the apple isn't there.

Ah yeah I agree, but if manufacturers aren't willing to enter dialogue why should we promote them.

It might help if I had something tangible to use as a reference, so yeah I would see what you can do and I might try again. The field hasn't entirely been exhausted.

Perfect!

Also we want to promote that the beta works with "Canon" lenses, "Nikon" lenses, etc. so removing brand names from the lens and then again mentioning those brands in the label/text is weird.

I also have the experience that email contact doesnt work. It doesnt mean they are not interested in dialog all together though. For example establishing contact at faires and trade shows worked like a charm so far.

First concept for the new graphic. We should suggest wich mounts we want to show. What are the most popular?

Out of 233 responses - The most popular brand of lenses mentioned were Canon and Nikon. Of the 302 lenses mentioned 52% were Canon, 24% were Nikon, 12% were Sigma and the rest were a mixture of Pentax, Olympus, Tamron, Tokina, Minolta and a couple of others.

Overall Most Popular Lenses

1 Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens (pictured right)
2 Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens
3 Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens
4 Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens
5 Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens

So probably:

EF
F
E
MFT?

For me the message to the viewer of this image should be twofold:

  1. looks how flexible the beta is we can attach ANY lens to it, the shear mass of option should speak for itself
  2. You most likely have canon or nikon mount lenses (considering the stats rex posted) of course it works with the Beta.
