I have been developing (but haven't published yet) an open source hardware specification with heavy emphasis on modularity and hackability. It is very close to what the Apertus camera. I'd like to help in the development of the physical elements of the camera.

I have been trained as an architect but my real interest is engineering. I have some machining experience with lathes mills and plasma cutters, design of mechanisms and design for modularity, also amateur knowledge of electronics.

True. We should make a list of protected features that need to remain imperial because it would break compatibility otherwise. Something like

HAL-1999 updated subscribers of T4: Define a proper cooling strategy.

With aluminium case it is possible to design fins on the outside of the case which passive cooling may be adequate. In the video I heard that the heat dissipation of the sensor is around 3W. This is trivially small but the rest of the electronics need to be considered.
