Yeah when I did a mock for status updates it naturally gravitated to a bar chart structure.

Out of 233 responses - The most popular brand of lenses mentioned were Canon and Nikon. Of the 302 lenses mentioned 52% were Canon, 24% were Nikon, 12% were Sigma and the rest were a mixture of Pentax, Olympus, Tamron, Tokina, Minolta and a couple of others.

Not sure. I thought so but I went onto their Twitter to check and there was talk of Berlin, so.

It would need to be better than that... but, you know... it's a logo.

It's very confusing to me why people tread on eggshells where copyright is concerned in this area. The Greek alphabet is removed from copyright restrictions in the same way that letters of the alphabet are. 'Slide to unlock' is a patent, letters can't be patented.

I'll probably want to further hone this, but I changed several things on the page.
Try that. I failed to get the image not to clip on the right hand edge.

Ah yeah I agree, but if manufacturers aren't willing to enter dialogue why should we promote them.
I should point out here, a month ago I took the initiative to contact seven lens manufacturers no less with a view to obtaining IP clearance. One was a direct introduction from someone I know in lenses. The aim would have been to form the basis of a mutual relationship and perhaps acquire lenses on loan for promo purposes in the future (although that wasn't suggested in my emails). These approaches were part of a brief I was compiling with respect to which brand we might prefer to feature as standard. So, large and small, established and newer marques. We got no responses and frankly, it made me lean towards the prospect of our using non-brand-specific lens depictions in promo.

@merikhan36 - Do you have any FPGA related experience?

Yes. Couple of weeks max I'd imagine, the way things are.

I liked how you swapped the light and dark around. So did you go for 34 or 21?
BAndiT1983> i'm missing a little bit breadcrumbs in apertus wiki
<BAndiT1983> or to be precise, categories
<BAndiT1983> like in normal wiki at the bottom, so one can look up all the things in the category in one go
<BAndiT1983> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayer_filter
<BAndiT1983> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Color_filter_array
<Bertl> did you try adding a Category:xxxx link?
<BAndiT1983> i would never find registers without the link from Bertl
<Bertl> that's how wikipedia does it IIRC
<BAndiT1983> apertus wiki doesn't seem to be categorized
<RexOrCine> There was a version two main page list that came up at one point, but it never got implemented.
<BAndiT1983> this is appended in the normal one -> Category:Digital photography
<BAndiT1983> Category:Image sensors
<BAndiT1983> Category:Color filter array
- arpu (~arpu@178.165.131.71.wireless.dyn.drei.com) has joined
<RexOrCine> https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php?title=NewMain_Page
<RexOrCine> Came up here - https://lab.apertus.org/T122
<BAndiT1983> oha, much better
<Bertl> so you don't like the colorful blocks on the current main page?
<RexOrCine> That would mean abandoning the images on the main page, which I'd probably disapprove of, but it would be good to have an option available for people to reconfigure things
<BAndiT1983> you don't have to abandon images, but we should consider to add categories
<RexOrCine> I agree.... I even thought that new main page might be good at the bottom of the main page, but there were warning signs attached, and I didn't know what to make of that ie. "Don't edit this or it'll break"
<BAndiT1983> seems to work, i get Categories: Beta Hardware | Registers at the bottom
<BAndiT1983> we need just meaningful names for that stuff, then it's much easier to move in the same area to get more info
<Bertl> so what's the problem then? :)
<BAndiT1983> i don't know where the parts belong to, you said it's partially from alpha
<Bertl> in general, you can assume that everything which doesn't explicitely say 'Beta' somewhere is ffrom the Alpha
<Bertl> *from*
<BAndiT1983> https://wiki.apertus.org/index.php/CMV12000_Register_Blocks
<BAndiT1983> there should be 2 categories at the bottom as test
<BAndiT1983> don't know why the category pages are editable, they usually shoudn't be
<Bertl> you can lock pages down, probably that's what wikipedia does
<BAndiT1983> the page has to be created once, just entered summary and and content as "Registers"
<BAndiT1983> now they should stay blue

I thought that's what he meant too... Like a Fairy washing-up liquid advert - http://l7.alamy.com/zooms/5833b0c62d874262b0d596b5fd87cf81/original-vintage-advert-from-1940s-advertisement-dated-1947-advertising-fgkmy0.jpg
Brilliant. Great work all round here Michael.

Re: Angle - It would look ok if you were doing it at 34 degrees from the vertical which is what I expected you were gonna do. So that looks like this - http://andylibrande.com/homeclimbingwall/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Triangle-10x12x34degrees.jpg

You wanna make sure you use /home on the end of the lab link is what I've come to realise.
True, and we could make them ours (have them designed to deviate away from the standard)... In the above image [edited] I just went for the standards.
See in the fonts thread - https://lab.apertus.org/T744#11197
You've got to realise I've been through about 10,000 fonts at this point, that's getting exhausting and not much seems to work. As a result I keep coming back to the symbol. As per:
As I went into in chat, two sets of all caps (Line and marque) both with wide spacing. All caps AXIOM we can get away with but ideally you want the sub-category being small case and preferably with a capital B. All caps on both is too off-putting for the subconscious. It might look ok to begin with but I question its staying power.
Do you wanna put it out to the polls?
Mar 8 2017
Yeah, there's something about it that's not right. Things in the CI can be changed surely.
@MichaelH I'm not really emphasising the structure of this image when I use the word 'cards', rather, the images external dimensions (whatever they happen to be) ie. mainly resources which have been carefully designed for use in a given situation, and probably employing the same colours.

If someone works out the Phabricator menu on mobile, and clicks on home, they're met with a welcome message. The first link is "Existing questions" - leads to "No results found"

I've always disapproved of auto-DM's on Twitter, however, I've decided to employ it through Crowdfire. You'd sign in with API permissions on a desktop and configure 'Auto-DM's at the bottom of the settings menu. I'll email you the message with all corresponding links when I'm done.

This line you've got running up through the whole thing is very clever.

Sony would struggle to get apertus on the Greek alphabet. Copyright typically has a shelf-life of 70 years and there are stipulations set-up in the legal world that prevent people from copyrighting base characters. Legality takes into account the circumstantial in a case like this - so for instance if we had a red alpha symbol in italics (followed by corresponding numbers certainly) there'd be room for claim. To my knowledge Sony has only ever produced an Alpha. We produced an Alpha but it's discontinued. The Sony Alpha was introduced in June 2006... before the Axiom... However, had the AXIOM Alpha been brainstormed prior to 2006? I don't know. That would all be about proving what's on paper.
We could do away with text all together and employ the Greek alphabet symbol?
"I am not convinced we need this grip bevel element here."

The following positioning allows for the colour wheel to sit precisely above the spine of the letter P when OpenCine is written fully.
^ Thing with that is the numbers woulnd't show if it was smaller. The cogs are here if anyone wants them - https://image.freepik.com/free-icon/data-management-interface-symbol-with-gears-and-binary-code-numbers_318-52331.jpg ... or there might be better ones out there.
Feb 26 2017
Sorry, I changed the order.
You know what? I'd say the same. Logos/icons is a really boggy area, and there are some great ones - AVID I think is particularly good. Sony vegas emulates it and I'm not sure that's a good idea. Then there are ones like DaVinci Resolve, where, yeah it's a nice icon, but it doesn't really have any relevance to the brand. Adobe have a very good, encompassing theme which makes incorporating new products into their CI very easy, then there's something like Final Cut Pro which is really generic and 90's looking. I'm still open to new concepts but what's happening here seems complementary, relevant and readily identifiable... so... you know. It's also something that would be easy to embellish and add detail to for larger promo material.
Simple 0° for me definitely.
5 solid colours is a much better approach.

Well we couldn't do Beta III or Beta IV etc because the numerical differentiation is all about what's going on with the internals really, ie. A user will update boards and software within the enclosure they got to begin with. They wouldn't want to have have 'Beta III' on an enclosure containing a sixth revision of software and modules, for example, because it would make their camera seem out of date when it wasn't. It's also good to have AXIOM and Beta or AXIOM and Gamma in the same logo without splitting them up because we may want to carry aesthetic themes from the Beta II through into a Gamma - for instance it might be possible to fashion its module enclosures (or at least the sensor module enclosure) with the milled aluminium roof and base with black in between... in which case it would simply be a case of following that structure with AXIOM Gamma on the right hand side.
