apertus URL shortener
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

For the shortening of URLs we've been using Google's URL shortener up to now. Mainly for ease but also because of its features.

As part of our general de-googling I propose that we create our own URL shortener. This is a good way to provide a useful service to the community, advertise the project in the process, and get even more features than Google was giving us anyway.

Someone with server access would need to do the necessaries, but the process should take about 15 minutes.

There are a few Open Source routes, and whilst it's an old program, YOURLS seems to be the business:

I have used YOURLS in the past. It works... and is easy to setup.
