Mock Description

Part visualization to evaluate size and material.

perfect, I can't think of anything to improve anymore.

But I already have tons of comments about the CAD design of the part itself, which is great because that's the reason for these visualizations in the first place :)

Yeah it's pretty great this. So real you could touch it.

Just this - https://lab.apertus.org/T799#11889 from here.

@MichaelH: How much time does it currently take you to create one full image with all labels like this?

I am thinking if there are ways how we can partly automate this or reduce the number of clicks you have to do before getting a picture like the above. There are a lot of parts we want to vizualize this way and some parts will also have several revisions with changes....
Maybe reading labels from an external xml/txt/etc. file and having a script overlay them (image magick?).
and maybe linking the to-be-rendered 3d objects to external files that can quickly be swapped out for batch rendering?

Just throwing ideas around for now...

Hi Sebastian, not that bad idea. I'm not sure how to do this in Photoshop. But I think there should be a possibility in InDesign. At least you have functions like "Data Merge" where you can read tables from a csv-file. And if you replace an image by the same filename, InDesign automatically updates it.

So there could be some part of automation but to make this work we would need for every part an csv file with the different attributes.

Coincidentally the proportions of this are excellent. I've checked it over desktop and mobile socials and it fits the usual window limitations perfectly. It looks brilliant. Keeping consistency with what you've done here would be streets ahead of what any other camera manufacturers are doing.

Should we include a short sentence underneath the dimensions explaining to the onlooker what they're looking at, or where it'll be used on the camera, that sort of thing (and for these sentences to be arranged prior to the design process) ?

You've got 'Cap top' on the side plate ref Michael.

here it is not clear where the part is, should we highlight it somehow?

Good idea!

So in this case:

"This side plate features a rosette for the purposes of attaching accessories such as extension arms, crossbar, bolt on rosettes, rosette handles etc."

"Cap bottom provides five screw holes, standard mount points for plates or tripod head and ventilation holes. The component weighs ??"

?
